Diet alone doesn't prevent struvite stones — treating the underlying infection is essential.
Aim for a urine output of about 2.5–3 litres a day (urine should look pale straw, not dark). This is the single most protective habit for every stone type.
High sodium intake pushes more calcium into the urine. Keep salt under roughly 5–6 g a day.
Counterintuitively, normal dietary calcium (dairy, etc.) binds oxalate in the gut and lowers stone risk. Restricting it usually backfires.
Large amounts of meat, egg, and fish raise uric acid and calcium excretion and lower citrate — a stone-friendly combination.
Lemon or lime water adds citrate, a natural inhibitor that keeps crystals from sticking together.
Spinach, beetroot, nuts, chocolate, and strong tea are oxalate-rich — worth moderating if you form oxalate stones.
